Position Title: Director, Quality & Safety

External Description:

The Director of Quality & Safety is responsible for the implementation and oversight of Quality & Safety initiatives as guided by the Quality & Safety Committee.

Essential Functions

  • Develops, coordinates and implements Quality & Safety improvement programs.
  • Develops policies and procedures that promote quality care and patient safety.
  • Communicates new policies and procedures to appropriate staff and monitors for adherence.
  • Collects, monitors and reports data for quality improvement measures.
  • Investigates and communicates any potential quality and/or risk issues/concerns.
  • Attends Quality & Safety and sub-committee meetings.
  • Provides support and assistance to Committee Chairs in administrative functions, to include: researching clinical information, scheduling meetings and record and distribute committee meetings minutes.
  • Conducts data analysis related to quality improvement to ensure that care provided meets or exceeds standards.
  • Educates providers on Standards of Care as it relates to their practice.
  • In conjunction with the EMR team develops, implements and oversees clinical workflow as it relates to quality measures.
  • Reviews provider records for quality issues/concerns, identify circumstances that fall outside established parameters and follows-up appropriately.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor Degree in Healthcare or related field required.  

Experience/Qualifications: Three (3) years Quality & Safety experience in a healthcare setting, knowledge in continuous quality improvement initiatives, statistics and process implementation reporting, medical terminology, demonstrated ability to problem solve and manage effective working relationships, excellent communication and organizational skills, proficient in Microsoft Office, such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook and familiarity with EMR software

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time, visual and auditory acuity for frequent use of computer, telephone, and use of other office equipment. Well-lit and ventilated area with non-hazardous equipment.
