Position Title: Appointment Scheduler
External Description:
Provide a high level of administrative and scheduling support by accurately scheduling patient appointments and perform delegated duties for Administration and Providers; while interacting professionally with physician partners, patients and employees, treating them with dignity and respect.
Essential Functions
- Answer each telephone call within two rings with proper etiquette.
- Responsible to accurately schedule and establish patient appointments and verify or update patient address, phone number(s), insurance information and primary care physician.
- Routinely follow-up with patients who have no-showed their appointments, target timeline is within 24 business hours.
- Answer routine questions regarding company and billing (insurance) as well as direct calls to appropriate department/employee.
- Work closely with other business office and accounting departments as necessary.
- Exhibit and maintain a high degree of professionalism and decorum in all situations in addition to confidentiality, flexibility and accountability.
- Maintain confidentiality at all times regarding protected health information and confidential information.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
Experience/Qualifications: Previous experience in appointment scheduling, in a healthcare setting, excellent communication and organizational skills, proficient in Microsoft Office, such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook and familiarity with EMR software
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time, visual and auditory acuity for frequent use of computer, telephone, and occasional use of other office equipment. Well-lit and ventilated area with non-hazardous equipment. Noise levels may be higher due to the “call center” environment.
