Position Title: Medical Assistant

External Description:

Perform a wide range of duties and provide clinical support to the physicians and nurse practitioners. Communicate with patients about issues, results and follow up plans along with other tasks under the direct supervision of the medical providers.

 

Essential Functions

1. Adheres to and supports the mission, purpose, philosophy, objectives, policies, and procedures of Genesis.
2. Adheres to the Genesis HIPAA Compliance Plan and Privacy Standards.
3. Answer calls from patients regarding gynecological or obstetrical questions or issues.
4. Refer callers to appropriate departments within clinic
5. Review appropriate care with provider utilizing protocols to provide care
6. Communicate results to patient as directed by provider
7. Schedule appointments if follow up is determined
8. Refill prescriptions as directed by the clinicians
9. Maintain confidentiality at all times regarding protected health information and confidential information. Other requested or related duties as assigned
10. Completes all necessary documentation in the patient’s medical record as required.

 

1. Maintains a clean, orderly and safe environment for patients and visitors. This includes cleaning, sterilizing, and storing instruments in accordance with practice policies. Stocks rooms in preparation for the daily work schedule. Takes inventory of medical and exam room supplies.

 

1. Assist in other functions as needed

 

 

Education: High school diploma/GED, with completion of an accredited Medical Assisting Program required.

 

Certification: CPR required, Registered Medical Assistant preferred.

 

Experience: A minimum of two years of experience working as a Medical Assistant in a physician office.
